Wall mounted x 2 Pack
In very general terms, you can divide your favourite salad veggies into 2 categories; heavy and light feeders. Put your heavy feeders -tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers,-
into one planter, and place your light feeders -lettuce, onions, celery, mint, basil, silver beet (leafy veggies and herbs) into the other.
To ensure a continuous supply, you can add a third planter for seedlings and cuttings. Use the middle planter for mature light feeders and immature heavy feeders.
Tip: run some string across the chains for an instant trellis.
Tip: watch the leaves. If the leaves look pale, increase nutrient rates. If the leaves look ‘burnt’ around the edges, water down the nutrient.
Mount to a sunny wall or paling fence (we do not recommend the Brunswick Green if the wall is too sunny). All you’ll need is to be able to drill 2 x 6mm (1/4″) holes for the eye bolts. (For light coloured or reflective walls, we recommend the cream or unpainted planters).
This is the ideal system for all those poor unfortunate souls who don’t have a veranda, porch or balcony railing for their ‘Veranda Veggie Patch’.

Optimum Grow
We have been using ‘Optimum Grow’ for over a couple of years now to grow everything from lettuce to Strawberries to tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and zucchini, and we’re quite happy with our results. We thoroughly recommend Optimum Grow, made in West Oz.
$29.00 buys you the 2 part nutrient pack (2 litres). In concentrated form, calcium tends to combine with phosphate, to form a nasty brown sludge which the plants can’t use, so the calcium is put into one bottle, and the phosphate in the other. The go is to always mix the 2 parts into water -in equal portions.
Please Note: if you buy this product with a planter, combining postage will save you heaps!
Optimum Bloom
If you’re more interested in flowers than veggies, you might want to try “Optimum Bloom” from our friends at Growth Technology. A slightly different mixture, recommended for plants in the flowering stage.
Please note: we don’t currently keep Optimum Bloom in stock. It will be shipped direct from the manufacturer, so please do not include it in a bulk order.
Mounting brackets (pair)
For the DIYers. If you make your own planter you might find a pair of our galvanised mounting brackets convenient. We make 4 different sized brackets, to suit railings from 20mm to 100mm wide. Or you could go with eyebolts and chains for hanging your planters from a wall or fence, $10-pair.
